WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
To earn your Commercial Pilot Certificate, you'll need to:

Be at least 18 years old

Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English

Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate

Complete the required flight training and aeronautical experience

Pass the FAA knowledge and practical tests

Meet applicable FAA medical requirements when exercising commercial pilot privileges
Under Part 61, the FAA requires at least 250 hours of total flight time for an airplane Commercial Pilot Certificate, along with specific experience and training requirements.
