WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
To earn your Private Pilot Certificate, you'll need to:

Be at least 17 years old

Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English

Meet applicable FAA medical and student pilot requirements

Complete the required flight and ground training

Pass the FAA knowledge and practical tests
FAA regulations require a minimum of 40 flight hours, although some students may need additional training to become proficient and ready for their checkride.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Your timeline depends largely on how often you're able to fly. The more consistently you train, the faster you can typically build your skills and complete your certification.

DOES A PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE EXPIRE?
Your Private Pilot Certificate itself does not expire. Pilots must maintain the appropriate currency and qualifications to continue exercising its privileges, including completing a flight review at least every 24 calendar months.
